Sci-Fi/Fantasy Club Meeting Minutes for March 4, 2008
Here’s what went down today:
1) Board Policy 6900 : Meri Phillips and Chuck Steele from Student Activities, along with Deputy Chief Joe Mullen and Lt. Ray Snisko from Public Safety, discussed the revised Facilities Usage Board Policy. They reassured the club that, as the rules regarding behavior in the Lounge had not actually changed (the restrictions about being too loud were always there), both organizations would continue with their current practices. They did not consider CCGs to be gambling, but did state that, if they received complaints from students trying to study in the lounge over excessive noise (and they receive few, if any such complaints), they would give preference to academic over social activities. In short, if those using the SRC North Lounge practice an appropriate level of common courtesy regarding excessive noise and behavior, we should have no problems using the lounge (indeed, Student Activities wants to see students use the space). Phillips and Steele also requested that we help keep the area as clean as possible.
2) CODCON : Requests for volunteers to staff the Registration Desk, as well as work on the Hospitality and Set-Up Staff, went around (watch also for a separate e-mail on this). Friday, March 7 is the deadline to submit events for the program (events can be added later, though only on the website). T-Shirt order amounts and other general information was also shared.
