“Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” Midnight Showing

Where: Cinemark @ Seven Bridges 6500 Route 53, Woodridge, IL 60517
When: Thursday, February 16, 2012, 10:30 PM – 1:30 AM
What: Nicholas Cage (wait, it gets better, I promise) is back as a flaming skeleton in burned leather on a fiery motorcycle from Hell. Only this time, the directors are competent, and on roller blades! The guys who brought you “Crank” now bring you a complete revamp of what should have been an awesome movie several years ago.
NOTE: This film is in 3D.  It’s also a great way for new members to really get into the club experience.
This is an approved film; you must buy your own ticket.  Paid members will be reimbursed $5 (upon submission of valid ticket stub).

1min Prequel to “The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe”

I’d say that this rather smashing. http://scifi.icanhascheezburger.com/2011/12/06/prequel-to-the-doctor-who-christmas-special/

Ultimate GAME Day!!!!!

Zombie Dice.  Battle Cars.  Chrononauts!  MUNCHKIN!  Tuesday, January 31st in the SSC, the club will be taking over the New Lounge for non-stop gaming activities from 1-5pm.  Board games, card games, role playing games, all at their own tables!  We will have designated game runners for each game, and if you would like to sign up to be a game runner, or would like to bring in and run your own game, that can be arranged through contacting our sponsor, Doc Allen.  What better way to hang out with friends or making new ones than by challenging them to a slow motion fight to the death?  Or playing a friendly game to the death?  Sci-Fi Fantasy Club’s Ultimate Random Game Day.  It’s Nerdtastic to the death!

Disclaimer:  Despite repeated use of phrases along the lines or “to the death” and whatnot, the included activities will be completely safe to the death.  Blast, those words just keep slipping out!

J.R.R. Tolkien’s true vision, if you ask me.

It’s easy to get caught up in all the glitz and glamour of the recent oscar-winning remakes, but some of us still remember the original version back before they could afford to use cgi or breed their own dragons just for the close up shots.  This film was from a simpler day in the art of cinema, but still just as powerful, if not more so, than one of the most acclaimed modern remakes ever.  So, without further ado, via youtube, I present Humphrey Bogart in the 1944 original, “The Lord of the Rings.”

Some wintertime fun.

Our Winter Laser Tag outing will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 12:30 to 3:30 PM at Laser Quest (1524 Butterfield Rd #C, Downers Grove, IL 60515).  This event is for club members, but non-club members are also welcome. Each participant should bring at least $20, but the more players we have, the cheaper it will be for all players (35 player maximum, though). Pizza and pop included!  Please RSVP to Doc by no later than Friday, Jan 13, so we can have an accurate head count.

*scream…BANG…thud*

Well, I’m afraid there is an epidemic going around. There, there are ZOMBIES!!!

The first little feller is just so darn cute, except for when he bit my now dead dog…and the second guy well If he only used the front door instead of the window, we all cant be the smartest fish in the sea. Anyways I’ll be back with more updates as soon as I get this bite looked at, oh and after I rebury my dog. (Damn zombies)

Now for something Completely different

Why yes, this actually exists. The reason: unknown (well other than pure awesome) Any who, enjoy.

A DICTIONARY OF MADE-UP LANGUAGES will be published this November by Adams Media.
